Hello, I'm Tyler Kelly. I'm a third year here at Carthage, studying Political Science and International Political Economy with minors in Social Justice and Criminal Justice. My first favorite thing about Carthage is the whole small school vibe. I really love whenever you walk around campus, you see some people you know, you could say hi to a couple of friends, it really feels like a second home. Just because whenever you're around-- whenever you're out of your room, you're just getting to meet the people that you like, have some nice conversations, and you never feel alone. My second favorite thing about Carthage has to be J-terms. I really loved going to Peru last year with one of my political science professors Dr. Rober. We got to see Machu Picchu, which is was a wonder of the world but then also learn about how tourism can go wrong for people by being tourists. Really nothing you can do better and affordable way to travel the world. I'm really enjoying my Crescent J-terms and I'm excited to go to Belgium next year. My third favorite thing about Carthage has to be my experience in student government. Right now, I'm really happy to be serving as student body president. And through Student Government, I've really felt like I've been able to connect with all different corners of campus. It was really awesome to do some campaigning, talk to students all across campus about issues that concern them. I think a really awesome kind of service is trying to work to make your communities better. And in student government, I've been able to experience this and slowly see myself making a mark on our community. And I think that's only possible at a small school like this. So I've really enjoyed it. My fourth favorite thing about Carthage has to be Model UN, which is one of the clubs that I'm in. I joined a bunch of clubs beginning and I think Model UN has really stuck out to me both because I really enjoyed the debate within it, and being able to do something within my field of study. But also because I've been able to travel with the club. Every year, we went to we go to an international conference, I was just in Barcelona last March. And it's an absolute blast being of the travel world and some of your best friends. My fifth favorite thing has to be the lake I don't think you can leave it out. I don't think there's anything better than the vibe of like playing beach volleyball while listening to the waves over here. I love waking up in a room. It's kind of late for you. I don't think you can beat it. It's just so beautiful. It's a really great environment to have a really great thing to do if you need some self time to go sit by the lake. These are my five favorite things about Carthage.
