Hi. My name is Basil Kiracofe. I'm a sophomore, double majoring in studio art and political science, and these are my five favorite things about Carthage.
My first favorite thing about Carthage is the mock trial team here. A mock trial is working with law and taking on court cases. So I've learned how to speak publicly, how to argue.
I've built such a great sense of community and made so many different friends, and it's really helped me develop better as a writer and a speaker. My second favorite thing about Carthage is the art community. Being here with the art community, I've been able to discover so many different majors, styles of art and just different people with different ideas, and being able to learn from all of them and have these learning opportunities has helped me fall more in love with art.
My third favorite thing here is the professors. The professors have genuinely made me love Carthage even more than when I first visited. They're some of the kindest and sweetest people, and they genuinely care about your success.
My fourth favorite thing about Carthage is the connections from the campus. With the professors in the Aspire center, you're able to find a wide variety of jobs and internships that match what you're passionate about. With the help of my professors, I've been able to find an internship at the public defender's office.
My fifth favorite thing about Carthage is how you're able to explore so many different avenues. With being an art major and a political science major, I'm able to explore what I'm really passionate about through the student organizations and the courses the campus has to offer. There's over 100 different organizations, and because of that, I'm able to find what I'm passionate about and learn so much more.
I'm Basil, and these have been my five favorite things about Carthage.
